country and within region also. There is a need to harness the full potential of the women in overall development. Although it is also true that despite the near about equal shareholder in development works, women are still lagging behind in terms of accessibility to resources like credit, land acquisition, facilities, extension programmes etc. The reasons of this may be their illiteracy or lack of formal education, no social and economic security, social and cultural pressure etc. This paper emphasizes on the present situation of women in agriculture and suggests possible roadmaps to mainstream women in development process.
