Abstract

In the changing global scenario, information is the need of the hour to expedite the growth and development of rural agricultural system. Farming is a knowledge-intensive industry. Growers need to obtain and process finan¬cial, climatic, technical and regulatory information to manage their farms. Both public and private institutions have emerged to supply farmers with information and analysis. Keeping all these in view, the present study was conceptualised to analyse the factors influencing access and utilization outcome of agricultural information system network in the study area. Purposive, multi-stage and random sampling procedures are followed in the present study. The district Malda, the blocks Manikchak, Chanchal-II and Gazol are purposively selected. One village was randomly selected from each and every selected Gram Panchayat under the blocks. From the exhaustive list, forty (40) numbers of farmers were randomly selected as respondents from each selected village. Accordingly, the total number of respondents was two hundred (200). The data were collected with the help of personal interview schedule through personal interview method. The data were processed into correlation, multiple linear regression, step wise regression statistical methods. The existing AISN on agri-information dissemination should clearly focus on the young, educated economically, psychologically and situationally empowered people in near future. The wisdom building in agri-information should consider the existing farmers’ collective organization by increasing the dependency of the farmers through attaching the collectives with agricultural development activities to enhance the efficiency of AISN.
