French bean (Phaseolus vulgaris) a member of Fabaceae family, is widely grown and cultivated throughout the world as it is an excellent source of proteins, fibers, vitamins and minerals. The crop yield is affected by several pathogens that cause serious diseases in bean crop. Among these pathogens, Colletotrichum lindemuthianum causing anthracnose disease, is the most devastating one. Since, all stages of crop growth are vulnerable to the disease, it may cause a complete yield loss of around 100% and can become epidemic. In Jammu region, bean crop is cultivated in several districts, among which Udhampur is one of the major district of its cultvation. Thus, in order to ascertain the status of bean anthracnose in Jammu region, a survey was conducted in Udhampur district in three blocks viz., Chenani, Latti and Pancheri during the cropping season of 2021 and 2022. Three villages from each block were selected for survey. The mean per cent disease severity recorded in Udhampur district was 35.90 per cent and 33.38 per cent during the year 2021 and 2022, respectively. Whereas, the overall mean disease severity recorded in Latti block was 36.20 and 33.68 per cent, in Chenani block it was 37.00 and 34.79 per cent while in Pancheri it was 34.40 and 31.67 per cent during the years 2021 and 2022, respectively.
