Farm Women in Entrepreneurial Activities: A Route towards Women Empowerment

Abstract

The study was conducted at Jorhat district of Assam with a view to find out the empowerment of farm women in entrepreneurial activities. The study included a total of 120 respondents selected through purposive and random sampling technique From Gwalior Region of Madhya Pradesh. The statistical tools which were employed to analyze the data which was collected with the help of a structured schedule includes frequency distribution, percentage, mean, standard deviation, coefficient of variance and empowerment index. The findings of the study revealed that majority of farm women entrepreneurs had medium to low levels of entrepreneurial behaviour and only a few of them had showed high level of entrepreneurial behaviour. About 36.97 percent of the respondents had medium level of economic empowerment, followed by 33.28 percent with low level of economic empowerment. About 39.19 percent of the respondents showed medium level of social empowerment followed by 27.37 percent of the respondents with low level of social empowerment. Again 40.67 percent of the respondents had medium level of political empowerment, followed by one third (29.58%) of the respondents with low level of political empowerment. Similar results have been observed in overall empowerment of farm women entrepreneurs i.e. about 32.54 percent of respondents had medium level of overall empowerment, followed by 30.33 percent of respondents had low level of overall empowerment.
