Empowering Women in Rural Telangana State through Vocational Skill Training

Abstract

Skills and knowledge development are the driving forces behind the financial growth and community development of any country. Skill building is a powerful tool to empower individuals and improve their social acceptance. The development of skills can contribute to structural transformation and economic growth by enhancing employability and labor productivity and helping countries to become more competitive. This, in turn, increases the employability and productivity for both the current and future workforce Entrepreneurship development is the driving force of socioeconomic growth of any nation. Empowering of women is the ability to make desired changes in one's own life, having faith in one's ability to do so, having control over one's life, having the freedom to make one's own decisions, realizing the potential of all women, and achieving equality in society. The present study was taken by the researcher to evaluate the vocational skill training role in women empowerment by developing of positive self-esteem. Women’s empowerment was evaluated in four dimensions including economic, social, and individual and psychological. The present study is exploratory in nature undertaken to examine the level of awareness and attitudes of women towards vocational training. The study was carried out rural of Ranga Reddy district of Telangana State. The method adopted for selecting sample was known as stratified random sampling with purposive sampling. Hence a total of 240 women were selected as sample. The data was collected with the help of questionnaires and interview schedule. The study indicated that the vocational skill training is very effective in women empowerment of rural origin.
