Heliconias, lobster-claw, false bird-of-paradise, popular as brilliant colors and exotic appearance. A study was conducted at the Department of Horticulture, Institute of Agricultural Science, University of Calcutta, Kolkata during April-June, 2016, to evaluate the Pigment- Carotene, Chlorophyll content, Peroxidase, Lipid peroxidation, and Vase-Life of cut inflorescence of three Heliconia species namely –Heliconia psittacorum var. ‘Choconiana’ and Heliconia humilis kept under the effects were compared to T1 distilled water and T2 standard preservative (2 teaspoonful of fresh lemon juice + 1teaspoonful of common sugar + ½ teaspoonful of household bleach/liter of water) and eight different 8-HQC based holding solutions viz., T3- 8-HQC (500mg/l), T4- 8-HQC (500mg/l) + Sucrose (2%), T5- 8-HQC (500mg/l) + AgNO3 (1500ppm) + Sucrose (2%), T6- 8-HQC (500mg/l) +CaCl2 (750mg/l) +Sucrose (2%), T7- 8-HQC (500mg/l) + GA3 (80µM) + Sucrose (2%), T8- 8-HQC (500mg/l) + NAA (100ppm) + Sucrose (2%), T9- 8-HQC (500mg/l) + Citric Acid (200mg/l) + Sucrose (2%) and T10- 8-HQC (500mg/l) + BAP (50µM) + Sucrose(2%). From the results, it was found best Effect of Vase Solution on two Heliconia Cut Flower Species, the parameters pigment content, Peroxidase Activity, Lipid Peroxidation, and Vase-life were found best results after 11th day. Heliconia psittacorum var. ‘Choconiana’ recorded T3 treatment combination had maximum Carotene and Chlorophyll content in the bract and Heliconia humilis T7 and T10 treatment combination performed the best result Heliconia psittacorum var. ‘Choconiana’ exhibited higher Peroxidase Activity on T6 and Heliconia humilis exhibited higher Peroxidase Activity on T6. Vase Solution effect parameter Lipid peroxidation activity was the highest result on T9 on Heliconia psittacorum var. ‘Choconiana’ and Heliconia humilis performed with the best result on T8. Effect of 8-HQC Based solutions on the Vase-Life Treated cut inflorescences Heliconia psittacorum var. ‘Choconiana’ and Heliconia humilis exhibited higher results in T5 & T6 Key words: Heliconia, Vase-life
