Correlation Analysis of Socio-Demographic Profile of Tribal Farmers with Knowledge and Adoption of Improved Production Technology of Ajwain

Abstract

The present study was conducted in Chittorgarh district of Rajasthan as Chittorgarh district stand first in terms of area under Ajwain cultivation. The objective of the study was to work out the correlational analysis between the socio-demographic profile of farmers with knowledge and adoption of improved production technology of Ajwain. 5 villages from Rashmi tehsil of Chittorgarh were selected randomly. 13 farmers were selected randomly from each of these villages and a sample total of 65 farmers were selected. The data from these farmers to know the socio-economic profile of the farmers and to measure their knowledge and adoption a well-structured and pre tested interview schedule was used. The study was done during the year 2022. The ex-post facto research design of social science was used for the present investigation. The collected data were analyzed by using appropriate methods of analysis viz., per cent age, mean, rank, t value, standard deviation and correlation coefficient. On correlation analysis of socio-demographic profile of farmers with knowledge level, it was found that age, education, size of land holding, family type, annual income and social participation were found to have positive and highly significant relationship with knowledge at 1 per cent level of significance; while, extension contacts was found positively significant with knowledge at 5 per cent level of significance. Findings regarding relationship between adoption of improved production technology of Ajwain shown that age, education, size of land holding, family type, annual income, extension contacts and social participation had positive and significant correlation coefficient with extent of adoption of improved production technology of Ajwain at 1 per cent level of significance.
