The study was conducted in the South Garo Hills district of Manipur with 120 randomly selected paddy growers. The data collection was done with a structured interview schedule through the personal interview method where identified constraints were grouped into three categories such as technological, infrastructural and economical constraints. The most serious problems were lack of knowledge on scientific crop production, occurrence of insect pests and diseases, , lack of good quality seed, lack of irrigation facilities, non-availability of agricultural chemicals on time, unawareness of govt. subsidy programme, non-availability of labour during peak periods and high cost of agricultural chemicals.
