Capacity Building of Farmers Through Training On Organic Farming Practices

Abstract

Day by day use of chemical based farming increases but some people are being vigilance about their side effect. Farmers and other peoples are finding way of sustainable agriculture and eco- friendly practices and organic farming practices is the only way to achieve it. Farmers follow many organic farming practices for their crops, health consciousness and increasing yield quality. Considering the above concept "Capacity building of farmers' through training on organic farming practices in Bharuch district of Gujarat State" is undertaken for research study. Result revealed that majority (93.00 %) of the trainee farmers had received the training from Krishi Vigyan Kendra, more than one fourth (35.00 %) of the trainee farmers have very high level of perception about training course, nearly half (45.00 %) of the trainee farmers have very high level of perception about training methodology, only 21.00 per cent of the trainee farmers had very high level of perception about the resource person, majority (90.00 %) of respondents have low level of knowledge level before training. Whereas majority (84.00 %) of trainee farmers have high level of knowledge after training. While more than one fourth (35.00) of un- trained farmers have medium level of knowledge about organic farming. The data regarding adoption, shows that majority (67.00 %) of trainee farmers have low level of adoption before training. Where as after training majority (80.00 %) of trainee farmers have medium level of adoption about organic farming. In terms of relationship, data showed that only land holding (0.201*) found significantly associated with knowledge gain about organic farming practices where as in terms of adoption Annual income (0.197*), mass media exposure (0.215*) and perception about resource person (0.240*) found positively significantly related.
