India is the biggest producer of pulses and pulses are main protein supplements in the food. The major pulse crops grown in India are Red gram, Bengal gram, Greengram and Blackgram. Chickpea crop is best for health and income generation but the production of gram is decreasing day by day because farmers unaware of new technology. Krishi Vigyan Kendra was organized many programme for promotion of pulse crops like- CFLDs /FLDs, OFTs and other extension activities successfully with an objective to demonstrate and popularize the improved agro-technology on farmers' field under varied existing farming situations. Overall chickpea crop is best for health and income generation but the production of chickpea is decreasing day by day because farmers unaware of new technology. KVK was conducted CFLD pulse in 20ha area every year since last four years. All 50 demonstrations in 20 ha area were conducted in 5 different villages and result concluded that increase average yield 18.75 q/ha in demonstration plot as compared to 12.80q/ha in control plot. There was 46.45 per cent increase in yield observed in demonstration plot over farmers practice. It was observed that potential yield can be achieved by imparting scientific knowledge to the farmers, providing the quality need based inputs and proper application of inputs. The average of total gross income from grain is Rs. 87964/ha. as against only Rs. 60303/- in the farmer practice. Net income obtained under CFLD was only Rs. 51589/ha., and only Rs 28278/ha. in farmer practice respectively. KVK is playing most essential role in dissemination of technology through CFLDs & FLDs.
