Abstract

Tomato cultivation is affected by several biotic and abiotic yield-limiting constraints. Among the biotic constraints fusarial wilt (F. oxysporum f. sp. lycopersici), bacterial wilt (Ralstonia solani), leaf curl (TYLCV), early blight, basal stem rot are the major diseases in Hazaribag, Jharkhand. For sustainable management of Fusarium wilt of tomato integration of different methods was able to significantly reduce the disease severity over control. The main objective of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of the Trichoderma species to promote the growth and yield parameters of tomatoes and to manage Fusarium wilt disease under field conditions. Among the five treatment combinations (T1- Seed treatment with Carbendazim @ 2g/kg of seed, T2- Seed treatment with Trichoderma harzianum @ 4g/ kg of seed, T3- Soil treatment with FYM enriched Trichoderma harzianum @ 1kg per 50kg of FYM, T4- Seed treatment with Trichoderma harzianum @ 4g/ kg of seed + Soil treatment with FYM enriched Trichoderma harzianum @ 1kg per 50kg of FYM and T5- Control), the minimum per cent disease incidence was recorded in the T4 (Seed treatment with Trichoderma harzianum @ 4g/ kg of seed + Soil treatment with FYM enriched Trichoderma harzianum @ 1kg per 50kg of FYM) 27.88 at 45 DAT and 20.59 at 60 DAT. The average plant height was recorded maximum for T4 at 45 DAT (2.70ft.) and at 60 DAT (3.80ft.). The average weight of fruit and total yield was maximum for T4 at 80.67g and 225.35 q/ha while T5 (control) showed the worst results.
